Frequently Asked Questions
About the Pottery
Is your pottery dishwasher safe?
Yes. All functional pottery (mugs, bowls, plates and so on) is made from durable stoneware that's dishwasher safe. Decorative pieces such as the bothies and figures are best wiped with a damp cloth.
Is your pottery microwave safe?
Yes, all functional pieces can go in the microwave.
Is the pottery food safe?
Yes, all glazes used on functional pieces are food safe.
Why does my piece look slightly different from the photo?
Every piece is handmade and glazed by hand, so no two are exactly the same. Small variations in colour, glaze pooling, size and shape are part of the character of handmade pottery. Colours can also look slightly different on different screens.
Ordering and Drops
What is a "drop"?
Rather than keeping the shop fully stocked all the time, I release small batches of new pieces on set dates. Drops are announced in advance on via my newsletter, as well as on Instagram and Facebook, so keep an eye out!
Do you take commissions or custom orders?
Yes, I'm happy to discuss custom pieces, such as a bothy in a particular colour or a set of personalised mugs. Please get in touch with your ideas!
Can I buy in person?
Yes. My work is available at several shops and galleries across Scotland. Please see the Stockists page for details.
Delivery
Where do you deliver to?
I currently deliver within the UK only, with Royal Mail 48. If you're overseas, get in touch and we can discuss your options.
How is my pottery packed?
Every piece is carefully bubble-wrapped and boxed to protect it in the post. I re-use and recycle packaging materials whenever I can.
What if my order arrives broken?
Please email me within 48 hours with photos of the item and packaging. I'll send a replacement if available, or a full refund. You don't need to send the broken piece back.
How long will my order take?
Orders in-stock are usually dispatched no longer than 7 days after purchase. Commissions have a 4 to 6 week lead-time.
